We are open and accepting applications! Please be sure to also submit your VSLO application so we are able to consider your application completely.

We ask that all students interested in the scholarship submit their applications by April 1st. Our application deadline aligns with our VSLO timeline, and scholarship recipients will be selected by April 15th. If there are still available scholarships after April 15th, we will consider applications on a rolling basis.

Rush Emergency Medicine proudly serves one of the most diverse urban communities in the country. We strive to align with the mission of Rush University and create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students, faculty, residents, and fellows from all backgrounds. We partner with the Rush Medical College Visiting Scholars program to offer fourth-year students with an interest in furthering our diversity and inclusion mission the opportunity to experience emergency medicine at Rush. Please note that while our rotation block dates offered differ slightly from those listed on the Rush Medical College website, scholarships can be applied to all of the rotation blocks in which we have available for visitors.

The scholarship will offer a $2000 stipend, which can be utilized for travel, housing, application fees, and incidental expenses related to the month-long rotation. The stipend will be provided upon successful completion of the rotation. Students are responsible for their own housing and travel arrangements. In addition to financial support, students will have the chance to receive mentorship from both attending and resident physicians, participate in community service initiatives, and interact with Rush organizations committed to advancing our diversity and inclusion mission.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY:

This scholarship opportunity is open to full-time medical students who have completed their third year of required courses and are currently enrolled. Eligible students must be in good academic standing at an LCME or COCA accredited institution, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and adhere to the same institutional requirements as all rotating medical students.

HOW TO APPLY:

Interested individuals must submit an application to our visiting clerkship application through VSLO to be considered for the scholarship. We cannot review scholarship applications without a corresponding VSLO application.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a stipend for all our deserving applicants. Please note that you will still be considered for our visiting student elective experience even if you are not selected to receive the scholarship. We hope that you will still consider us during your residency application process.
